Outlet & Switch Repair in Phoenix, AZ

From loose receptacles that spark when plugging in vacuums to discolored switch faceplates, our licensed electricians repair and replace worn electrical devices to current NEC code.

Overview

Diagnose and repair faulty outlets, dead switches, buzzing dimmers, and loose wall plugs.

In the desert climate of Greater Phoenix, wall receptacles and light switches endure significant mechanical and thermal wear. Plugs that slip out easily or outlets that feel warm indicate degraded contact tension inside the box, which generates high-resistance electrical arcing and creates a serious fire hazard.

Arizona Electric replaces cracked, buzzing, or non-functioning devices with commercial-grade, tamper-resistant receptacles and modern smart switches. We verify proper grounding, secure copper terminations, and make sure every box meets modern National Electrical Code standards.

FAQ

Outlet & Switch Repair questions, answered.

Why do my wall plugs keep falling out?+

Internal metal contact blades lose spring tension over years of use. Loose contacts create electrical resistance and arcing. The only safe solution is replacing the receptacle with a new commercial-grade unit.

Why does my light switch feel warm when turned on?+

Standard on/off switches should never feel warm to the touch. Warmth indicates an overloaded switch or high-resistance loose wiring inside the wall box. Dimmer switches may be mildly warm, but should never be hot.

Can I replace two-prong ungrounded outlets with three-prong outlets?+

You cannot simply swap a two-prong outlet for a three-prong outlet without a ground path. Per NEC code, you must either run a dedicated equipment ground wire, install a GFCI receptacle labeled 'No Equipment Ground', or update the circuit wiring.
